Turn-around Time

PCR: Less than 24 hours

Rapid Testing: COVID/ Flu A&B/ RSV/ Strep A&B

Rapid COVID, Flu A&B, RSV, and Strep A&B tests can provide results in just a few minutes. This can be especially important in situations where a quick diagnosis is needed to determine the best course of treatment.

Rapid Antigen

This test detects protein fragments specific to the Coronavirus. It can be done in a clinic, doctor’s office, or hospital. Turnaround time for results is usually very quick and in some cases, results can be reported within 15 minutes.

PCR

This test actually detects RNA (or genetic material) that is specific to the virus and can detect the virus within days of infection, even those who have no symptoms. The test can be done in a clinic, hospital, or even in your car. Turnaround time is longer, generally in the 2-3 day range but we can often provide same day results.

Which Type of COVID-19 Test Is Right for You?

Both the rapid antigen test and the PCR test are appropriate for people who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who have been in close contact with someone who has been infected.

It’s important to note that both the rapid and PCR tests are designed to detect active COVID-19 infections, and it’s best to receive testing a few days after you think you have been exposed to the coronavirus or you come down with symptoms.
